Saturday 1/17/09

Afternoon:

1 handed 24kg swings 8 sets of 10+10 on the minute

2 handed 24kg swings 3 sets of 20 on the minute

I was supposed to hit Max VO2 today but both shoulders are sore and I feel a bit beat up so I thought I'd just hit some good swings.

Hey there Kai - I am glad to see that you are following my blog. I see from the other blogs that you follow that I am in select company.

I notice that you are doing the TSC -- good luck with that. I am also helping a friend of mine with his preparations.

I have a couple of tips that will help you.

* Your snatch numbers need to be higher, I would recommend some hang and dead snatch practice to improve your bell path and hip pop.

* Don't try to "suck weight" like you are trying to make a weight class like a wrestler. Any increase in pullups will be more than sucked out by decrease in deadlift poundage and snatches.

* Make sure you taper the week before and rest two full days before (i.e., the last work day before the TSC should be a Wednesday).

I hear what you are saying about the weight. I'm still a beginner in a lot of ways so all I was really going to do was just stop drinking so much milk and letting the max vo2 and swings during the week lean me out just a bit.

I have a session schedule with Jordan to test my 24 kg snatches in a few weeks. I'm definitely going to try to ratchet up my volume in the next month.
